Mount St. Helens Erupts; Bush Faulted by Dems
Posted by Nate under Nate
Ok, ok. Mount St. Helens didn’t erupt (yet)(I think).
I’m just alluding to an aggravating, illogical habit / pastime / compulsion of my buddies on the American Left. Would I be surprised to see that headline in a future newspaper anywhere in America? Would you? We shouldn’t be.
My coworker and I had a fiery debate about him this very day, which has prompted me to write on the subject. Now, if you want to detest GWB for logical, legitimate disagreements with policy, character issues, etc. - I’m down with that. However, if you’re going to be like my coworker, and simply spout out whatever lines you can remember, through the haze of THC addling your gray matter, of “Farenheit 911“, well… we’re gonna have a go-round. Fortunately, my coworker and I were able to end up having a reasoned, logical discussion of his issues. In the end, he was speaking more as a rational centrist than a left-wing nutjob - a temporary victory for me, certainly. Unfortunately, tonight he’ll go home, fire up a bowl, and by tomorrow will be back to the normal “Did you know Bush waited seven minutes - SEVEN FUCKING MINUTES - before he got up and left that book reading with those kids”. Then I will concede defeat, and stare blankly at my monitor, refreshing Drudge over and over.
It doesn’t seem that a week goes by in America that the troubles of the planet aren’t heaped at the door of George W. Bush. The litany of his offenses against the country and planet include, but are not limited to:
Global warming, global cooling, global frog depopulation, hurricaine Katrina, crippling unemployment, expansion of government, degraded race relations, degraded foreign relations, the Indonesian Tsunami, the Pakistan earthquake, AIDS in Africa… the list is virtually endless.
Oh, and he “don’t care about black people”. Can’t forget that one.
The problem? There’s virtually no proof for the vast majority of the claims against this man. Not only do people go out of their way to repeat wild and unsubstantiated claims against him, they seem to gobble up any new tales like a fat kid eats cake. The personal, visceral hatred of Bush is staggering, and while I’d never walk about telling people I thought he was a genius or a saint, I simply can’t comprehend the attitude people show when his name is mentioned.
Perhaps Dr. Sanity has the answer. Agree or not; it’s a compelling read.
