Tales From IRC

From Patterico:
What religious extremism? I’m so glad you asked:
American commanders cite al-Qaeda’s severe brand of Islam, which is so extreme that in Baqouba, al-Qaeda has warned street vendors not to place tomatoes beside cucumbers because the vegetables are different genders, Col. David Sutherland said.
And my commentary in my gaming clan’s IRC channel on the topic:
[17:04][FoR|Redlan`w3rk] Holy. Shit.
[17:04][FoR|Redlan`w3rk] American commanders cite al-Qaeda’s severe brand of Islam, which is so extreme that in Baqouba, al-Qaeda has warned street vendors not to place tomatoes beside cucumbers because the vegetables are different genders, Col. David Sutherland said.
[17:04][FoR|Redlan`w3rk] hahahahahaha
[17:06][Coach] jawsome
[17:08][FoR|Redlan`w3rk] Wait… does that mean that the next logical step is tomato burkhas?
[17:09][FoR|Redlan`w3rk] And how are the cucumbers going to keep the tomatos in line without being able to get close enough to beat some sense into them?

Honestly… that wreaks of propaganda… if it’s true well… WOW how stupid is that? but that’s testing my ability to believe some of the shit the military and our intelligence system is putting out for public consumption.
Love the military, was a part of it for 11 years, but the time I spent in only strengthens my unwillingness to believe this one, I’ve seen the machine at work from the inside…
Remember the stories of babies being taken out of incubators in Kuwait during the first gulf war? Total fabrication but it made it’s way into a Bush 41 speech…
